ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING…? NO, IT’S JAMES BURTON – GUITARIST FOR ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING

October 17

James Burton, Famed 6-string slinger who created the signature lick on “Suzie Q” and the creator of great guitar sounds behind Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson paid a visit to a packed house for the ZZ Top show while in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Teleceaster Blaster as he’s been called arrived early to swap a few tall tales with the band backstage. Burton accepted the band’s invitation to take the spotlight with one of his signature solo sounds during an encore performance on ZZ’s rendition of “Jailhouse Rock”. A real crowd pleaser to say the least.

And for all the tech-spec detail fans, James Burton is THE guy who was leading the house band for the ’60’s TV show series, “Shindig” when the Rolling Stones agreed to appear on the condition that they would be granted the privilege of bringing along “a friend” who would also make an appearance on the teen spirited program broadcast. That friend was none other than blues giant, “Howlin Wolf”. Watch James take charge and provide some sizzling backup to play alongside “Wolf” behind one of his blues hits, “How Many More Years”.
